春の課外活動①日本のアートを楽しもう！ Spring School Mini Tour ① Learning world famous Japanese arts

こんにちは！Hello!

九段日本語学院の春の課外活動第一弾は、

「世界的に有名な日本人画家の芸術に触れよう！」

One of our spring activities was visiting a museum to experience a world-famous Japanese arts

and know about the artist’s life.

ということで..

みなさんは世界で最も有名な日本人画家は誰だと思いますか？

Who do you think the most famous Japanese artist in the world？

そう、江戸時代後期に活躍した

“波”を描いた作品が有名な画家といえば…

The Japanese artist who was active in the late Edo period…

Famous for the woodblock print of “The Grate Wave” …

葛飾北斎です！

Yes, it is Hokusai Katsushika.

Katsushika Hokusai Under the wave off Kanagawa, from the series Thirty-six views of Mount Fuji:

The Sumida Hokusai Museum (Full-scale high-definition replicas)

北斎と言えば浮世絵が有名ですが

あらゆるものを書き尽くそうとした北斎は

数えで19歳～90歳までの70年にわたって

錦絵や絵手本、読本の挿絵や肉筆画など多岐にわたる作品を制作しました。

Hokusai is famous for his Ukiyoe but he produced different type of arts including nishiki-e,

manga, picture book, illustrations for reading books and hand-drawn drawing throughout his life from 19 years to 90 years old.

2021年にはその生き様を描いた映画も公開されました。

A film depicting his life was released in 2021.

現在の墨田区に生まれ、

90回以上も引っ越しをしたと言われていますが

北斎はその生涯の多くを墨田区で過ごしたと言われています。

Hokusai was born in current Sumida-ku.

It is said that he moved more than 90 times, but he spent majority of his time in Sumida-ku.

世界的に有名な北斎のゆかりの地である墨田区には

「すみだ北斎美術館」があります。

There is a museum called “ The Sumida Hokusai Museum” in Sumida.

都営地下鉄大江戸線 両国駅から徒歩5分

公園の隣にある銀色のモダンな建物が美術館です。

5 minutes’ walk from the Toei Oedo Line Ryogoku Station A3 exit.

Next to Midori-cho Park.

先日、本校の学生10人でその美術館を観覧して来ました！

今回は常設展の様子を少しだけご紹介しますね。

10 of our students went to see the museum as a school event.

We would like to introduce a little of the permanent exhibition.

葛飾北斎「須佐之男命厄神退治之図」（推定復元図）すみだ北斎美術館蔵

(Susano-no Mikoto Conquering Gods of Pestilence) The Sumida Hokusai Museum

Restoration (Inkjet print, gold foil and gold paint, partially hand-colored)

常設展を一周すると北斎の製作初期から晩年の作品まで、

その特徴の変化や具体的な技法を学ぶことができます。

The exhibition presented variety of Hokusai’s works of his life.

On the section of “The development of nishiki-e” you can see how Ukiyoe Hanga (Woodblock print) is made.

また、中央には一筆書きを練習できるコーナーなど

タッチパネルで実際に北斎の美術を体感することができるブースがあります。

There is a space where you can play on touch panel and practice one-stroke sketch etc..

尚、タッチパネルは英語対応も充実しており、

多くの外国籍の方が北斎の作品に親しんでいました。

Touch panel is English selectable and so that many people from abroad also can enjoy Hokusai’s artwork.

最後には、晩年の北斎のアトリエ模型が…

こちらはぜひ館内でじっくりご覧ください。

At the last part of the exhibition, there are wax figures of Hokusai and his daughter of their later years.

Please stop by it and watch them closely at the museum…

さらに、只今特別展示期間中！(開催期間：2024年3/19-5/26)

「歌舞音曲鑑　北斎と楽しむ江戸の芸能」が楽しめます。

A special exhibition is now open from March 19^th to May 26^th 2024.

The title is: “Theater, Dance, Music —Enjoy the Edo Performing Arts with Hokusai”
