小石川植物園の紅葉 Autumn leaves of Koishikawa Botanical Garden

東京大学の施設の一つである小石川植物園に行ってきました。
小石川植物園は植物学の研究・教育を目的とする東京大学の附属施設で、日本でもっとも古い植物園であるだけでなく、世界でも有数の歴史を持つ植物園の一つなのです！！
We visited the Koishikawa Botanical Garden, one of the facilities of the University of Tokyo.
The Koishikawa Botanical Garden is an institution affiliated with the University of Tokyo for research and education in botany, and is not only the oldest botanical garden in Japan, but also one of the oldest in the world!

九段日本語学院からも近くて、地下鉄で2駅、学校から歩いても30分くらいで到着します。
It is close to Kudan Japanese Language Institute, only two subway stops away, and a 30-minute walk from the school.

園内は東京都内とは思えないくらい広く、多種多様な植物があり、四季折々の景色を楽しめます。
The garden is so large that it is hard to believe it is in Tokyo, and with a wide variety of plants, you can enjoy the scenery of each of the four seasons.

今回は紅葉を見るために行ってきました。
This time I went there to see the autumn leaves.

味わいある本館を通り過ぎて、いろはもみじのトンネルです。
Passing through the tasteful main building, we came to the Iroha Maple Tunnel.

もみじは真っ赤に紅葉

実はニュートンの生家から接ぎ木され、イギリスの大学から東京大学に送られたものでした。

温室もあり、中には世界最大の花、スマトラオオコンニャクが鎮座しておりました。
There was also a greenhouse, and inside it sat the world’s largest flower, the Amorphophallus titanum.

これは花が咲くと臭いやつだ。まだ花は開いて無いけど臭くても開花したのが見てみたいですね。
This is the one that smells when it blooms. The flower hasn’t opened yet, but I would like to see it in bloom, even if it stinks.

温室は他にも蘭や多肉植物が沢山ありました。
There were many other orchids and succulents in the greenhouse.

紅葉はモミジだけでなく、イチョウや、メタセコイヤ、ヒノキなどが園内を彩って秋色を満喫できます。
The autumn leaves are not only maple trees, but also ginkgo, metasequoia, and cypress.

最奥には重要文化財である旧東京医大本館がありました。
At the far end of the park was the former Tokyo Medical University main building, an important cultural asset.

園内は草の広場がありピクニックに良いですよ。
The park has a grassy field, good for picnics.

紅葉だけでなく世界の大発見の歴史の一端に触れることのできるところでした。
すげーな東大。
