たまには日本の詩なんてどうでしょう？
声に出して音読して言葉を味わい日本語のリズムを感じる。
声に出して詩を読むのはちょっと恥ずかしいですが結構気持ちの良いものですよ。

今回は私の好きな谷川　俊太郎さんの詩を日本語と英語で紹介したいと思います。

あまねく人に朝のリレーが訪れることを願って。

How about a Japanese poem once in a while?
Read aloud to taste the words and feel the rhythm of the Japanese language.
It is a little embarrassing to read poems aloud, but it is quite pleasant.

This time, I would like to introduce my favorite poem by Shuntaro Tanikawa in both Japanese and English.

Hoping that the morning relay will come to all people everywhere.

カムチャツカの若者がきりんの夢を見ているとき
While a young man in Kamchatka
Dreams of a giraffe

メキシコの娘は朝もやの中でバスを待っている
A young girl in Mexico
Waits for the bus in the morning haze

ニューヨークの少女がほほえみながら寝がえりをうつとき
While a little girl in New York
Rolls over in her bed with a smile

ローマの少年は柱頭を染める朝陽にウインクする
A little boy in Rome
Winks at the morning sun that colors the column capital

この地球ではいつもどこかで朝がはじまっている
On this Earth
Always, somewhere, morning is starting

ぼくらは朝をリレーするのだ
We are relaying morning

経度から経度へと
そうしていわば交替で地球を守る
From longitude to longitude
Taking turns protecting Earth, as it were

眠る前のひととき耳をすますと
どこか遠くで目覚時計のベルが鳴ってる
Prick up your ears awhile before you go to sleep
And, somewhere, far away, you’ll hear an alarm clock ringing

それはあなたの送った朝を
誰かがしっかりと受けとめた証拠なのだ
It’s proof that someone has firmly caught
The morning you’ve passed on

学校の授業や過去にネスカフェのCMで使われたのでこの詩を知っている日本人は多いです。
谷川俊太郎さん、他の詩もいいですよ。
Many Japanese know this poem because it was used in school classes and in a Nescafe commercial in the past.
Tanikawa Shuntaro’s other poems are also good.
