月が綺麗ですね。
明治時代の有名な文筆家の夏目漱石が英語の教師をしていた時に、
「I love you」をどう訳すかの話で、「日本人はそんなことは言わない。月が綺麗ですねとでも訳しておけ」といった話があります。

昔の日本の男性は好きな女性に「I love you」というのが恥ずかしいから「月が綺麗ですね」と言ったとか。

その言葉の中には、”あなたと一緒に月を見ていたい。”とか、”月もあなたも美しい。”などの意味が含まれていました。

直接的な表現をしないいかにも日本人らしい言い回しですね。
文学的で美しい言い回しですが、現代ではそんなに遠回しに言われても月の美しさ対して同意を求めているようにしか受け止められないでしょう。

昔の日本風に愛を伝える場合も、月の美しさに同意を求める場合も、気を付けて使いましょう！
